Dimensional letters & logos
Making your business stand out
Adding dimensional letters and logos to your business adds depth, visibility, and a sense of permanence.
OPA is a Gulf South leader in elevating your brand through custom logo elements.
What is a dimensional letter?
Give your brand depth
A dimensional letter or logo is a non-illuminated, three-dimensional sign made from materials like metal, acrylic, PVC, high density foam or wood. These pieces rely on ambient or directed lighting, using depth, shadow, and finish to create visual impact.
Outdoors, OPA Sings & Graphics dimensional letters provide a durable option for building signage where lighting may not be needed. Indoors, they are popular in lobbies, reception areas, and retail spaces, where they serve as refined branding features with a polished, architectural feel.

Staying Power
Quality matters
Dimensional letters should do more than look good on installation day. When shortcuts are taken, adhesives fail, and letters shift. What starts clean can quickly become uneven, faded, or loose.
The longevity of signage is determined by its material quality. Lower-grade finishes can fade, peel, or corrode with prolonged exposure to harsh Gulf South environments.
Withstanding Gulf South conditions
At OPA, installation and longevity is part of the build. We rely on mechanical fastenings, not temporary adhesives, to ensure each letter is securely mounted and will hold over time.
We also use automotive-grade clearcoats on painted elements for lasting color and durability, and cast laminates on printed graphics to resist fading and wear.
Paired with strong fabrication and attention to detail, the result is signage that maintains its appearance and integrity for years.
YOUR SPECS
It’s all in the details
OPA fabricates each piece to exact brand standards, with accurate letterforms and consistent color matching across paint and printed elements.
Finish options include gloss, satin, and matte, along with custom textures and a wide array of metal finishes, including antique, mirror and chrome, to suit your needs.
Letters can be produced in thin or thick profiles, flush-mounted for a minimal appearance, or standoff-mounted to add shadow and dimension.

LAYERING
Contrast color face
A contrasting face color adds visual interest and drama while sharpening readability. It creates depth without compromising legibility, and opens the door to mixing textures and materials for a more refined, layered look.
Consider a glossy acrylic face mounted to a thick matte foam letter, or a thin mirrored chrome face on a bright acrylic base. Combining materials can add a pop of color and surprise.
Backer panels
Mounting letters to a secondary panel makes future relocation simple and clean, while minimizing wall penetrations compared to individually stud-mounted logos. It also gives the logo more presence, framing the mark, increasing perceived scale, and helping it stand out within the space.
Installation methods
Flush-mounted
Flush-mounted dimensional letters sit tight to the surface for a clean, low-profile look. They read crisp and precise, often appearing painted-on while still delivering subtle depth.
OPA recommends flush mounting when the letter or logo is darker than the wall to reduce shadows and maintain legibility. It is also a smart choice for high-traffic areas like parks and schools where durability and reduced tampering matter.
Backing panels
Using a secondary panel for mounting streamlines future relocations and reduces the number of wall penetrations compared to individually stud-mounted logos. It also enhances presence by framing the mark, increasing perceived scale, and helping it stand out within the space.
Backer panels can be flush- or standoff-mounted and fabricated or cut from a range of materials to align with both aesthetic goals and budget.
Standoff-mounted
Standoff-mounted dimensional letters are spaced off the wall to introduce shadow, adding lightness and drama to the composition.
Standoff depth is fully customizable, and can be executed for both thin and thick letters. It is best used when lettering is lighter in color than the background so shadows enhance, rather than reduce, legibility.
Awnings & rail-mounted
Dimensional letters can also be mounted vertically to custom-fabricated rails or installed downward into awnings, creating the illusion that the letters stand above the structure or roofline.
This bold approach adds height, visibility, and dimension while integrating signage into architectural features for a bold, elevated storefront presence or interior trim feature.
ADD WALLPAPER
Making it immersive
Dimensional letters paired with custom OPA wallpaper turn flat walls into immersive environments. Layered graphics introduce depth, movement, and context, giving branding a stronger sense of place.
In lobbies, retail spaces, schools, and museums, this approach enhances scale, supports storytelling, and creates memorable visual moments while keeping messaging clear and easy to read.
