the client

LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency) facilitates life-saving organ and tissue donation across Louisiana, connecting donors, families, and transplant centers. Through community outreach, education, and coordination, LOPA helps transform generosity into hope for patients awaiting transplants.

LOPA’s campus in Covington, Louisiana was designed as more than a clinical headquarters — it is a place where lifesaving organ donation work, remembrance, and healing come together within a thoughtful, welcoming environment. The 66,000-square-foot facility along Interstate-12 serves as Louisiana’s dedicated organ procurement and donor care center, bringing clinical operations, offices, and community spaces into a unified campus aligned with LOPA’s mission of Making Life Happen.

the project

A defining feature of LOPA’s campus is the expansive outdoor Donor Memorial Park, where more than two acres of landscaped grounds unfold beside a peaceful lake. Walking paths, fountains, and gathering spaces create a serene setting for encouraging quiet reflection away from clinical spaces.

Engaged during early planning, OPA was leveraged to design, build, and install several focal points of the space: monolithic monument signage, a branded entrance, memorial plaques, and dimensional lettering elements thoughtfully supporting LOPA’s vision of a meaningful environment.

our APPROACH

For entrance place-marking, OPA designed and fabricated a custom curved skeletal aluminum arch with routed semicircles, precisely positioned to support installation of a dimensional title letterset.

Mirror-finish cast metal letters were installed throughout the space on matte silver fleck backgrounds, creating highly legible messaging through material contrast, depth, and finish rather than color alone, a refined approach often used in donor recognition signage, healthcare environments, and memorial installations.

OPA also produced custom attribution features, utilizing our experience in donor wall fabrication, durable exterior graphics, and museum-quality memorial signage systems. To fit LOPA’s brand and the park’s aesthetic, matte silver fabricated monolithic monuments and mirror-finish standoffs were chosen to support thick acrylic panels treated to resemble sea glass. Donor names were direct printed and protected with an automotive-grade clear coat.

solution

Through collaborative design, precision fabrication, and careful installation, OPA helped bring LOPA’s Donor Memorial Park to life as a cohesive and meaningful recognition space.

From custom monument signage and dimensional lettering to donor monoliths and architectural features, OPA’s work supports the park’s mission while showcasing its expertise in memorial signage, custom fabrication, and integrated environmental graphics.
