the client

Opened by the team behind Costera and led by Chef Brian Burns, Osteria Lupo brings a refined yet approachable Italian dining experience to New Orleans with shareable plates and seasonal menus that reflect both tradition and local sensibilities.

In the city’s vibrant culinary scene, it stands out as a contemporary Italian destination that complements New Orleans’ rich food culture while offering something different from the region’s classic Creole and Cajun staples.

the project

Osteria Lupo presented OPA Signs & Graphics with a clear brand foundation developed by Deep Fried Advertising: color specifications and logos were well-defined. What remained open was how to translate that approachably quirky yet refined aesthetic into three-dimensional signage. OPA’s role was to interpret the brand physically, balancing craftsmanship, materiality, and scale to create signage that felt intentional, expressive, and at home in the New Orleans streetscape.

solution

For this project, OPA Signs & Graphics translated a tightly defined brand package into custom three-dimensional signage that performs in the real world. By layering depth, mixed finishes, and dimensional elements, the signage creates visual interest that rewards both pedestrians and slow-moving vehicular traffic along the Magazine Street corridor.

Every design decision balanced visibility, legibility, and impact—ensuring the sign reads clearly both perpendicular to and in the direction of traffic flow. All of this was achieved while navigating strict zoning, permitting, and historic district requirements, maximizing brand presence without compromising compliance in one of New Orleans’ most protected shopping districts.
